My name is Joan, and I am a former ‘corporate america’ executive, who decided to leave the fast-track behind, and follow her true passions: slow food, nature and having a gentler impact on the planet. In reality the life change was returning to some of my roots, developed when growing up in eastern Pennsylvania. I had pushed many of those best practices into the back of my mind, while I was racing around the world, and from meeting to meeting.
I now find myself getting reacquainted with many of those practices, locating new resources and developing the DIY skill set to live a lifestyle more in line with my value system.
I believe that we, as humans, are at a turning point in our relationship with this planet. While it has been generous with its resources and supplied us with all of our physical needs, we have not been so kind in return. In many cases we have taken more than we needed, and ran recklessly over the things that didn’t matter in our minds. It is very easy, when running around in our busy lives, not to reflect on where things come from, or what resources it took to create this one item that we enjoy for a bit, only to toss to the side when something shinier came along….
I did the same, and working in the world of clothing and retail for more than twenty five years, I certainly assisted in creating a fair share of the glut of stuff that has supplied our ‘throwaway’ economy for the past decades.
So, it has been a life change for me… and there are many things that I have learned, practices that while being gentler on the planet, have actually given me a sense of greater abundance in my life and a sense of living more authentically.
If you are currently in a place in your life, where a little bell or voice has given you a wake up call to want something different…. if you have decided that having more stuff doesn’t really make you any happier, if you think living with a mindset of simple prosperity sounds good…………. then please do stop back. We can take the journey together and share our experiences.
Look forward to seeing you soon.
Joan
